The Order of the Written Word Has a New Home

...and The Crafting Grounds begin today

The Order of the Written Word's logo

The Stygian Society originally launched The Order of the Written Word to create a space for human-focused storytelling. After its first year, the community has grown to over 500 members, and it made sense for The Order to become its own independent entity with its own website, socials, and identity. We continue to sponsor and support it, but all things O2W now live under their own banner, allowing the initiative to focus fully on fostering creativity and connection.

With this shift, we are still excited to launch The Crafting Grounds, the October preparation phase for The Order’s November writing challenge. If you are new to The Order, it is a community-based 30 day writing challenge and a structured NaNoWriMo alternative designed for writers of all levels. Participants can write a novel, short stories, poems, or revise existing work, with support from a dedicated community and guided sprints.

Today, October 1st, marks the start of The Crafting Grounds. This month is your opportunity to plan your project, set goals, and prepare for the November writing challenge. Writers from around the world gather in our Discord server to share ideas, discuss strategies, and get ready for the 30 day writing challenge. We also have a local Montreal chapter with in-person meetups, and as the community grows, we aim to expand to other locations!

Whether you are seeking a supportive NaNoWriMo alternative or a structured space to focus on your writing, The Crafting Grounds is the perfect way to start. Join us on Discord, connect with fellow writers, and step into the month of preparation confident and ready to write. The November writing challenge awaits... and the Crafting Grounds will help you enter it prepared to create!
