What We're Looking For

Fiction in the following genres​

  • Horror [currently closed]

  • Science Fiction [currently closed]

  • Fantasy

  • New Classics

  • Historical Fiction

  • Mystery

Literary fiction in the following genres

  • Philosophical

  • Speculative

Non-fiction and essays in the following genres​

  • Philosophical

What We're Not Looking For

  • Collections; multi or solo author

  • Graphic novels

  • Erotica or any works with sexually explicit scenes

  • Works that feature gratuitous violence

  • Works featuring taboo topics (please email for clarification)

  • Racially-hateful works

  • Homophobic/transphobic works

  • Politically-focused fiction

  • Short stories and novellas (for these, please look to the Zine)

Submission Guidelines

In your email, please send  the following:

  • Your name and contact details

  • A synopsis and complete manuscript

  • Word count of complete manuscript

  • Genre and target audience

Please follow these manuscript specifications:

  • Must submit via the form below.

  • Synopsis and manuscript should be saved in a single Word document

  • This document must use Microsoft Word format and in a readable, default font (Arial, Times or Georgia)

  • Novels must be between 50,000 and 100,000 words

*Responses will be sent on receipt and acceptance only.

**When submitting your work please do not specify your race, gender, or sexuality unless you consider them to be a defining part of your biography. Additionally, please do not specify your accolades or social media follower count. These are not considerations in our selection process. We practice an art for art's sake doctrine which takes into consideration the work and the work alone. All are welcome here.

ZINE

July's Theme: THE OLD GODS

Released: Every January and July!​

Accepting:

  • Poems

  • Short stories

  • Personal musings

  • Visual art

  • Comics

For selected works, you will receive a $20 (CAD) honorarium and the option to purchase print copies at cost + shipping. 

​

Works received between June 1 and November 30 will be considered for the January issue

 

Works received between December 1 and May 31 will be considered for the July issue

Specifications: 

  • Must submit via the form below.

  • Written works must not exceed 2500 words (poetry included).

  • Name, contact information and work title must be included in your submitted document.

  • This document must use Microsoft Word format and in a readable, default font (Arial, Times or Georgia)

  • For artwork and photos please send pdf or png, 300dpi minimum (Note: printing is in black & white)

  • Comics must not exceed 5 pages.

*All submissions are kept on file for future consideration, so please be sure to withdraw if you receive publication elsewhere.

**If your piece has been previously published, please inform us on submission, and specify where it was published.

*Email responses will be sent upon receipt, and acceptance only. 

Please note that minor edits may be made to your work after acceptance as our editor will review for spelling and grammar.

Should substantial edits be required, one of our editors will reach out to you for collaboration.
